To The Youth Of India

O children, of this great Motherland,

In apparent radiance, does your Mother stand,

Liberated now, for seventy years,

After long-suffering, and tears,

But look, O children, do ye really understand her eyes,

Bearing a sorrow, her smile belies,

In a changing world, fades her glorious history,

A new future forgets her wonderful story,

Children, modern, ye adopt an alien culture of the west,

And in those colors, ye like to see your Motherland dressed,

Which does not become her true self at all,

Of rich tradition and heritage, that she once stood tall,

Why, I ask, as her own can't she shine,

As a diamond from a coal mine,

Whose brilliance is the teachings of Vivekananda, and Chanakya,

And the ancient scriptures of Ramayana and Mahabharata,

I implore you, young children: don't be a slave, a clone,

Of ways foreign, and unknown,

Remember the brave leaders of the past,

From the stars, upon us, their dreams they have cast,

Wake up, young children, before it's too late,

In your hands lies the nation's fate,

Recognize yourself, while there is still time in hand,

And keep ignited the torch of our sacred Motherland.
