Through My Eyes
Through My Eyes
It doesn’t seem half as bad, only if you look…through my eyes
It doesn’t feel quite as sad, only if you look…through my eyes
All those lonely awful nights, I wish you’d know how much I despise
The empty afternoons, the hollow evenings, Oh! those ominous skies
An aching heart, a shattered mind, and a gloomy pair of eyes
Wish you’d open up your heart n’ your soul, to my melancholic cries!
But you’d only know…. if you’d look…through my eyes!
How I wish we could turn back time, and bring back the spice
Or just simply leave it all behind, and take another roll at the dice
Be like how we used to be once, like sugar n spice…like fire n ice
They say, once bitten twice shy, but I’ve been bitten more than thrice!
But you’d only know…. if you’d look…through my eyes!
Nothing lasts forever I’ve been told, but a man like me always tries
Now that I’ve almost given up hope, I’d still hope for a pleasant surprise
You can take my dreams away if you’d like, but my spirit, only on my demise
Sorry dear readers, I regret this poem’s utterly maudlin premise
But you’d only know…. if you’d look…through my eyes!
Life has been kind to me in not being all rainbows and butterflies
I’ve forever been chasing fireflies, with more lows than highs
You walked in through that door, I thought I saw an angel in disguise
As the years went by, age and wisdom taught me otherwise!
But you’d only know…. if you’d look…through my eyes!
