Thief

Thief

I am so sorry

That I acted like a thief,

Who broke into your house

Under the moon of midnight,

Through the open windows

And danced around you

On tiptoes like I am doing

Some jazz moves with your

Moonlit shadow while you were

So peacefully tucked inside

Those homely plain sheets,

Sleeping and dreaming, may be,

While I was looking for

A perfect chance and I got one

When I caved and clawed

Your heart out without

Giving you a single ounce of pain,

But sudden your sleepy smile faltered,

I panicked and ran away,

Jumping high from the same window,

Under the midnight moonlight

But this time with a stained hand

And a still beating heart.

I am so sorry

That I acted like a thief

Because I was so much enraptured

With the infinite love you stored

Inside your heart which

Made me wonder

How it might actually feel if

That same heartbeats

If kept inside my

Hollow cage of ribs.
