The Selfish
The Selfish
Alone in the dark while I sat
The dark clouds whispered in my ears
"Wicked, failure, disappointment"
Endured it throughout the night
When the sun came with his blistering rays
I welcomed it with a rope over my head .
It tightened my throat and breath became an inferno .
It burnt the life out of me; I thought
But it burnt their whispers; and the life I lived for them.
The light cut down the rope; and for the first time I took a breadth for myself;
And later on I took it for myself only.
