THE SAME NIGHT

THE SAME NIGHT

A Night ruled by the stars it was,

A Night won over by tranquility it was,

A Night kissed by the soft snow it was,

A Night full of clinking glasses and chuckles it was.

Playing a sweet melody above the sky, the moon was,

Below it, rosy hands held together with love there was.

Although the first, how enchanting the Night was.

Winters have passed and the Same Night again it is,

Yet somehow, a fade in the stars there is,

Not the same tranquility in the dark there is,

A queer coldness in the snow there is,

A ballad, my ears sense, playing there is,

A Night of folks' sewn lips and shudders it is,

Oh! Take my shattered old soul back to that night of bliss,

A ceaseless cold Night without a Dawn it is.
