The Liberated Butterfly
The Liberated Butterfly
What is in a name?
Denotative terms they are
Sans persona, sans mind,
A body alone can’t take one far.
And how far can one go?
When the limits are set so
One’s not a he, one’s not a she
Just someone “they” want one to be.
Yet the blame comes back
Like the swords and the stones
At the clueless, cast-out citizens
The ones who repay the loans.
But what loans should they repay?
Their body was just framed that way!
The sign-up sheet has gone astray
One is gay, but just not gay.
Yet this world’s reforming, law by law
Don’t look down, don’t look down
A smile may not last forever
But neither does a frown.
