Exposed

In your presence, I am stripped

Of all the layers I have donned,

My soul exposed and lips unzipped,

As if by magic, all masks are gone.

You draw from me my innermost thoughts,

And hold them up to the light of day,

My secrets, fears, desires and doubts,

All laid bare for you to survey.

The weight of your gaze is like a fire,

That burns away my every defense,

And though I tremble with raw desire,

I feel alive in my nakedness.

For in this moment, nothing is hidden,

No pretense, no artifice, no lie,

Just two souls, their hearts unbidden,

A meeting that will never truly die.

In your presence, I am stripped,

Of all the layers I have donned,

But in the end, I am equipped,

To face the world, my heart unburdened.
