The Heart
The Heart

I gave you my heart
My inexpensive watch kept tick-tocking like my psyche that throb for you,
You said I was too shabby and impecunious to match your genre,
To maintain your status, you make friends with only a selected few.
I gave you my heart
Begging you for the time to make myself susceptible to fit your gentry,
You said it was elusive, you have chosen the one who worth a million,
A life, where I will have no entry.
I gave you my heart
Told, I will love you with all that I have, for you I will get the moon,
You said, with a grimace, keep dreaming in your broken shanty,
That time is not going to come any soon.
I gave you my heart
You gave yours to the man who will take you high,
A newlywed, in your expensive attire, you hold his hands and set for a journey chasing your dreams,
I stood behind, weeping, hiding my tears in the rain as your car passed by.
It’s been six years
I have not gained the courage to touch
your sky,
But managed to make my own den,
Where I get my tranquility as the day passes by.
You came back to your father’s house leaving your wealth and pride
You called me to the corner of the road where I used to stand by,
You told me you left the life that was like a cage,
Hold tight your ego and left the wealth and marriage,
I looked at you in astound eye
You look so devastated,
A solitary soul who lost it all that was money-oriented.
You gave me your heart
You gripped my hand and cried in dismay,
You said, “I know now your love was like a fresh morning shower,
I am tired of chasing the mirage, now want to settle down,
Don’t leave my hand, I need you every hour.”
I gave her my heart
I gasped, as I said,
Whose red vermillion and dark kohled eyes make my heart dance inside my chest,
She lives for me, and happy with whatever I could give
I have found my true love with her in my small hut that we call our nest.
