The Fight Within

The Fight Within

The recipe of illness became a whole

When flu barged in, making health begone.

And with a dash of cough and hint of a sneeze

The husky body had to renounce by force.

A new era brew

Where lips poached dry, cracked with agony

And bouts of vomit were forged disturbingly.

The drowsy eye itched and burned with fury,

Becoming bloodshot and rheumy.

While cheeks became all red and gloomy,

The runny nose becomes swollen red

Pouring snot as water drops,

Dripping from a broken tap.

While from the body draining energy

Was what the recipe of illness drew,

Fighting such harsh adversary

Was what the husky body knew.

Days prolonged and battles brew,

The body regaining sturdy

As each day's war concludes.

Yet the health flew away again,

When the cycle becomes anew.
