The Day Shall Come
The Day Shall Come

To those who live to explore,
We know how you suffer.
This lockdown has been a pain,
A pain you can't quite ignore.
But hang on in there,
Our brave explorer.
For the day will come when we would be set free.
To those who protect us,
We thank you deeply.
For what you have done for us is a great risk,
A mighty sacrifice.
In order to honour you,
We shall make a pledge.
We pledge to remain indoors
To remain safe
To remain quarantined.
For the day will come,
When we would be once again set free.
Hugs and handshakes,
Smiles and kisses.
Horns of the cars
And the children's laughter.
<p>All these are gravely missed.
Hang on in there!
Just a little more,
And before you know it.
We will be back to life's normality.
This virus has instilled in us fear,
Like a canary may fear a cat.
But don't fret, my dear.
For we shall destroy it.
Banish it.
We shall protect our loved ones and in doing so protect the world.
For one day,
The time will come.
There will be hugs and handshakes.
There will be smiles and kisses.
We shall hear the horns.
And of course,
The laughter shall once again ring in our ears.
