Tale of Two Lands
Tale of Two Lands
Call of the birds
Golden hues of the sun
Filtering through the garden
Fresh is the air
Wake up to a new morning
Dews on the leaves
Sparkling pearls
Coconut plucked
Grated and puttu is ready
With the steamed bananas.
Fresh catch of the fish
Made into red curry.
Lunch consumed
In no hurry.
Little siesta
Stroll in the garden
For a new vista.
Dusk falls
Nightly silence
Some insects
In a chorus.
Blessed I feel
Embraced by sleep.
Honk of the horns
Begins the traffic rush.
Sounds of construction
Man’s creation.
Building buildings everywhere
Last of the trees, nowhere in sight
Air heavy with dust and smoke
Hop step and jump to the daily mart.
Into the laptop my world
Fingers key in the word, after word
This too is life one has to live
To the memories, why to cling?
WhatsApp news one sees
Daily noise simply does not cease
Purpose of life keeps popping
Moment to moment in life keeps going.
