Soul's Journey: From Sin To Surrender
Soul's Journey: From Sin To Surrender
In a life immersed in sinful haze,
No trace of virtue, my soul displays.
Causing distress to those I meet,
Inflicting pain, making life bittersweet.
For my own happiness, I did not care,
Selfish desires, unaware of the snare.
In others' sorrow, I found delight,
Speaking falsehoods, hiding in plain sight.
Endless desires within my heart reside,
Anger, pride, on this path I stride.
Intoxicated by worldly pursuits,
Adorned with arrogance, violence takes roots.
Slumber and laziness impede my way,
Avoiding good deeds, no effort I display.
Engaged in deceit for reputation's sake,
Consumed by greed, desire's hold I cannot break.
A wicked soul, devoid of virtue's grace,
Constantly committing crimes, keeping no trace.
Empty of noble deeds, my mind confined,
Enduring countless sorrows, age after age I find.
In this state of aging and helplessness,
Completely impoverished, seeking redress.
Bhaktivinoda, at the Lord's feet I plea,
Offering my suffering, surrendering to Thee.
Though the lyrics may speak of despair,
In devotion's embrace, hope lingers in the air.
With love for the Lord, my heart's true quest,
In His divine presence, I find solace and rest.
Through devotion's path, I find my way,
Guided by the Lord's light, day by day.
Bhaktivinoda's plea, a humble plea it be,
To the feet of the Lord, I surrender my plea.
The poem is inspired from Song Amar Jivana by Bhaktivinoda Thakura
