Sleepless Nights
Sleepless Nights
I can’t sleep because of you
During the night your face comes into view
Thinking about your face, your body, your smile, your talk.
Wishing that one day on a date we’ll walk
Together hand in hand, on the road as a couple
Tasting your lips in the dark, soft and supple.
Rain on your lips and your eyes tight closed
Astonished by your beauty and perplexed why it’s me you chose.
Your arms up to my neck and mine down your waist
Pressing into each other and exploring in a haste.
Once apart, we look at each other
Thinking in our minds if we could be together
Running my hands through my hair in a shy expression
Wondering if my proposal will reveal my desperation.
Looking in her eyes to read her thoughts
Wondering if she knew that I loved her a lot.
My cheeks turned red when her eyes were on me
Yearning to call her my honey and my baby.
Wondering when my sleepless nights will end
And when we’ll wear our wedding bands.
Thinking all this I knelt to the ground
And pulled out a ring as she stood astounded.
I told her, “I love you”
And she replied that she did too.
Hearing this I held her in my arms and swung her around
While she screamed to put her on the ground.
I sat her on the ground and said:
I can’t sleep because of you
During the night your face comes into view.
I hope that now my sleepless nights will end
And guess what? In a week we’ll wear our wedding bands!
