Daily Happenings
Daily Happenings
It's every day that she pulls away
My blanket as I'm only halfway
Through my lovely dream
When I'm forced to feel the cold extreme.
With reluctance, I get up
My eyes half-closed
Brush my teeth and clean up
After another short doze.
It's every day that I argue
With myself in the mirror; impromptu
And come up with better comebacks
As I go over previous debates in flashbacks.
Every day I frown about
Whatever is made for lunch, and pout
And demand for something nice
Instead of the usual Dal and Rice.
These daily happenings seem mundane
And about them, we may complain.
But this time won't come again
So better stop taking it for granted, that's inane.
A time will come when these things
Will become anecdotes funny.
And we will laugh thinking about them
Which we now do with such unenthusiasm.
These daily happenings may mean
Nothing today. But one day this routine
Will be missed by you
When you'll be making life new.
