Save The Sparrows
Save The Sparrows
Those chirpy voices; sweet and low,
Those morning melodies – so mellow!
Woke me up every morning
As if it was me they were calling.
Each morning those birds beauteous
Sang in gentle voices, so mellifluous
With great devotion and a gentle tone
Of all other voices, they outshone.
With a little beak and white face
They hopped and flew with charming grace.
Whether the space is broad or narrow
They were found everywhere; those sparrows.
But now…move your heads and look around
Search them places but they won't be found.
So common was their presence to us
Then why to their deaths were we so oblivious?
I still remember innocent faces looking up at me
Hoping I’d treat them with some wheat or pea.
I used to wake up to their chirping,
But now all I hear, are cars honking.
Disgusted I am with this unfair world
And how some humans are acting like the underworld.
Killing and capturing these innocent creatures
While the others watch silently, sitting on bleachers.
Those cute sparrows have become endangered
Despite knowing, their lives we have ventured.
The sparrows are less and so is the time
To bring them back and atone our crime.
What right do we have to deny them of their home?
When we cut down trees to make our home.
I'm proud of helping those little ones to build their nests
For they are my true loving and gentle guests.
I request everybody to do the same,
To make their protection their ultimate aim.
For I want back my sweet and chirpy morning alarm,
And people to not do them any more harm.
