Tragedy

Shadows of a father's neglect

Shadows of a father's neglect

A daughter's love, unseen, unheard
Grew in shadows, like an unwatered word
Top of the class, a star so bright
But to you, it was just a fleeting light

You bragged of wins, but ignored her pain
Mistreated, belittled, love in vain
A constant whisper, "You're not enough"
Yet she rose, a phoenix, with a burning truth

Divorce came, and blame was laid
"You ruined life," the echoes said
Depression crept, a darkest night
But still, she gave, through all the fight

She came back home, a savior true
Supported you, with a heart anew
But you saw villain, not a daughter's care
A narrative crafted, with a toxic air

Surprises hidden, birthdays unnoticed
Efforts unseen, love unvoiced
A father's love, conditional, cold
Leaving scars, a story untold

This birthday gift, a mirror's gaze
Reflects a love, that's met with daze
A daughter's heart, still beating strong
A love that asks, "Is it too late to belong?"
