Promise

Promise, a simple seven-letter word,

But has a meaning so deep,

You shouldn't be making one,

If you just can't keep.

It makes a bond,

A bond of trust,

The moment you sway,

It turns to rust.

A good saying it is,

Promises are meant to be broken,

Stop trusting yourself that very day,

As your demons by then have woken.

Disapprove right away,

Don't nod yes, just for the sake,

You don't have this right,

To invite the heart and leave, to see it break.

It's hard, real tough, 

To give and only give all the time,

But you should be proud to gain somebody's trust,

Use it for your best, whilst being in your prime.

The day will never be too far,

When you won't be able to look in their eyes,

Karma it is, seeing them walk right past you,

Dare, you take them otherwise.
