Piece Of Paper
Piece Of Paper
Sitting near the window,
She heard the pitter patter raindrops.
On the one hand was a cup of tea.
The other held a piece of paper.
The drizzling raindrops
On the windowsill,
Mirrored the line of tears
Rolling from her eyes.
The paper she held
Was a letter filled with
Rejection and pain.
He left her for someone other
And left no evidence of his existence
In her life,
Except that letter.
She had read it for
A thousand times
Since morning.
Yet wanted it to be a lie.
He left as he came.
Like the nonseasonal rain,
Without any warning.
He filled her life
With joy and ecstasy
When he was with her.
He took away those joys
With him and only left
Pain in that letter.
She was getting familiar
To the rhythm of the rain
Outside her window.
She was getting used
To the loneliness in her bed
Just like a widow.
