On a nostalgic trail

Ah! the pitter patter raindrops

And the petrichor

Entice body mind and core

Completely engulf my soul

 

As I sit in my modest balcony

With my tea cup

I get to watch the sun nestle

Bathing me in crimson love

Reflections of dreamy realm

Within azure heart

Carry me on a nostalgic trail

In sync with fate's prank

 

I shrink in fear when I think of

The fateful day

When sinewy clutches of fate

Snatched you away

We had just finished the tea ritual

On a roadside cafe

A thunder followed by lightning

Took you away

I gaped and shivered in utter shock

Before I could realise what was happening

You were gone

 

Since then...

I am both amazed and dismayed

When the raindrops hit ground

My ecstatic soul remains sprightly

For a while

Eventually billowing clouds shroud my psyche

It takes time to gain control and calm down.
