Old Friend

Playing on the turquoise ocean washed shore... I found a shiny green tail wagging,in the mid-sea Slowly but swiftly it was nearing ;

As I was proceeding:bewitched by its shine. Suddenly it disappeared breaking the spell cast.

Now, popped out a Human Head with a playful smile;

It was a MERMAID!! I wanted to join her and dive to the biggest Oyster, revealing its shiny pink Pearl.

But, said she, " You need to get rid of your Shadow foremost. "

I was disheartened, as it was my only companion; that never traitated.

Still, for the sake of my new play-mate;

I let go my OLD FRIEND... No sooner, did I cut off my shadow;

I found that MERMAID fading-- I screamed at her to wait for me,

Alas! she didn't.

Disappointed, I turned back;

Only to find my shadow... Still waiting.
