Oh! New Year!

What's so new about you?

Why is mankind;

So euphoric about you?

The light of the day;

At night, stars holding sway;

All are the same, and

Not different in any way!

The skies may look different,

Ground realities don't turn new;

It's only a change of a number;

Nothing else becomes new!

Like previous years,

This year too;

Will see a dozen months,

Which we always knew.

Like always,

Some will win and others lose;

This year too will sail its time,

Like a ship on a cruise.

If you are new;

why Is the dusk the same?

And no different is

The morning dew?

But then too,

Each other we greet;

Happy New Year,

With your arrival,

Lifespan decreases by a year,

So why this euphoria?
