“I promise to....”

A million promises were heard

Some were crushed under the feet

More brutally than a cigarette piece

While others ruptured filling with bliss

I wonder if the stature to them is long enough

Because if they break it takes a part away

Breaking is the salient feature of promises

Yet people believe it to cure unhappiness

You assume it to be something that stays

But it doesn’t need a void to lose away

The more you believe

The more you shatter

Into pieces undesirable

Yet....

You love those promises being made

They leave you with frosted remnants

With hearts that don’t talk about peace

They are made again and again

Only to be broken and crushed down

Like they never existed for you to own
