NATURE’S FURY

NATURE’S FURY

Rain pattering on roofs without a stop,

Everything destroyed – shelters and crops,

A disastrous deluge which made our State –

God’s Own Country to suffer from its fate.

News everywhere about nothing but floods,

People gathered around, all with boiling blood,

Children cry, full of anxiety and fear,

People die, families’ eyes brimming with tears.

Plunged into darkness and cut off from the world,

People rushing about, worried and concerned,

Water everywhere – but what a catastrophic situation!

Not a drop of it to utilise, not even a small fraction.

All the places around inundated with dirty water,

Canals overflow, buildings full of mud just later,

Choppers hovering about, everyone busy rescuing –

Lifting people up, determinedly in full swing.

Such a crowd at the State relief camps,

Thousands of people, all wet with clothes very damp,

Houses destroyed, all collapsed to the ground,

People in danger, many still not found.

The armed forces and the fishermen as well,

Struggled relentlessly even as their eyes began to swell,

So many landslides one can’t even imagine,

Causing most of the population to lose their kin.

Everyone – despite caste, religion and creed,

Put their hands together, to help those in need,

They saw just brotherhood and love, nothing else,

All united, and charged up with strength.

Grateful we must be for being alive,

To help those who struggle and make them strive,

We shall overcome – whatever it may be,

And recover the glory of our ‘God’s Own Country’!
