My Last Kiss
My Last Kiss
Here I am! Lying down calm and serene, without a care
While you gently caressed my forehead
And ran your fingers through my curly hair
Memories flashing before your eyes
You took a deep breath and gazed at my charming face
I saw what you saw, what we so dearly prized
Our beautiful little nest, its fragrance
The scent of our love that healed our souls
Laughter of our little son, our intoxication
The meals that we enjoyed cooking together
Hot soups on dull wintry evenings
And the long drives in magical weather
Stepping over scattered toys on the way to our bed
Lulled into sweet nights with stories, jokes and cuddles
Feeling your gentle stroke on my weary head
Lazy Sunday mornings, inseparable like a magnet
When a streak of sunlight sneaked in
To find a cozy corner and curl up in our blanket
You held on to me like roots on the earth
Undefeated by the storms
You did not come this far, only to be stranded on the sands
I feel your parched lips on my forehead; me, a mortal trash
As you bid me goodbye
Before I was reduced to a mere fistful of ash
I can see your arid pair of eyes lost in a threatening future
My beloved, swim across the oceans of hypocrisies dripping from numerous lips
You did not get here to be petrified by the waters
I shall meet our Maker today and seek justice,
To send you sincere helping hands, albeit a few
Good bye my dear, my love shall guard you forever
May you find solace in another
