What does it feel to be betrayed?

To have two voices fighting within,

The Heart and Mind,

The one whose hole can never seal,

And the other whose wounds never heal.

How does it feel to think of them again?

They are no more in that first thought,

There is no more happiness in those memories,

No more life in those eyes,

My eyes that cry tears of hurt.

But the two voices are still fighting within,

My Mind is holding me back,

Tempting me with revenge,

I can feel my Heart clench,

Breaking down with words unexpressed.

My hands are tied,

Yet they still clutch those memories;

My feet are numb,

Yet they still feel coldness with each passing moment;

My throat is blocked,

Yet it still swallows my tears;

My eyes are shielded by innocence,

Yet they are the mirrors to my Heart.

My Heart can never be suppressed,

For its drowning itself in the song of silence;

My eyes seek comfort,

Finding a bird by the side of the tree,

Mirroring my Heart with sadness within.

My Mind taunts the bird by the tree,

Singing its song of voices free,

The Mind with revenge turns away,

While my Heart with hurt joins the bird.

They both now sing together a name,

Their purposes different but destinies the same,

Unheard by those who never came,

Heard by those who share the same.

But the Mind jeers the heart by the tree,

As the song ends on a final key;

And the bird flies with the silence away,

Leaving my Heart with understanding overlay,

And the Mind with no words to say,

For my Heart sings its song of Love.

The two voices now face at last,

Meeting each other like strangers unknown,

Greeting each other like friends forgotten,

And my Heart sings its song of Love,

For Betrayal knows not Love,

And Love never betrays.
