Moments

Maybe we don't get to live for eternities together.

Maybe there's no happily ever after for us.

Maybe there's no such afterlife where we find each other only to never let go.

So we wait,

We hope,

We keep going,

We keep moving forward

Until we forget to turn and wave at what's left behind. 

We shout,

We break things,

We hold memories close to our hearts 

Like it's oxygen,

Like it's the only thing that's keeping us alive.

We fight,

To hold on,

To let go

Like that's the only thing keeping us from losing our sanity. 

But there's a clock, which never stops ticking.

So this is all we have: Moments.

Moments where we are happy,

Smiling,

Laughing,

Genuinely,

Where it's all about

Magic,

About flying with our feet still on the ground 

Where we lose things,

People,

But we stand right back up 

Where we are not scared of the reality anymore

Where we are not afraid

Of jumping, running wild

Of just being us. 

So that's all that we are ever going to have.
