Life, As Of Now!

Shock of what just occurred,

Ache of what could have been,

Life as often averred,

Pendulates in between.

Deep absorption into a multi-layered self,

Distracted attention for a cell or cosmos,

The toss-up or the equal distance;

Choices made were to be so long back.

The chimera of life; of paranoia,

Of wild hopes, of ecstasy and of death too.

As the lizard hoots on the wall,

For food or for a mate or for some primal hokum,

Words we build as castles around us

As defenses, as veils, as reasons and as epitaphs.

Reveling, jostling within the confines

Of words and the physical.

Cries of despair or babbles of denial

The eternal quest within, without the rigmarole of excuses!
