ARPITA BARMAN

Romance

If IMay So

If IMay So

My beloved,

You're hardly ever out of my heart,

And my head,

And I, insignificant mortal

Have not found the right words,

The right actions,

The right looks and hugs

To tell you what you mean to me.

This is a poem of love,

If I may so humbly state,

But I have yet to find out what love

Means to me; my great

Vocabulary cannot shape these

Sea of emotions and pain

Into meaning yet,

When I see you, again and again.

I will kiss words into the air,

In hopes that they will find their way

Into your magnificent soul,

And plant in the hope,

That you're losing in this godforsaken world,

Because you're that,

You're hope,

And I feel the life burning in my feeble body

Because of you.

I'm not one of those enlightened beings,

Who can find love in themselves,

I need your love

To set me ablaze with life,

Alone I'm fine and happy,

But you make me see colours

That I never thought I would be able

To see.

So please, my beloved,

Wherever you are, find happiness,

I don't need your company,

I need you to live and love,

To find my peace.
