I Miss The Rain
I Miss The Rain

Today I miss the rain
The rhythmic grooving of droplets
By my window pane
Accompanied by a whole mug of foamed cappuccino
And the melody struck as I keep turning
Each page of my favorite book
It's a feel-happy day today
My sister's done with her Sunny-side-up selfie
The band's catching up for a rehearsal,
And my mom is baking her secret recipe cake.
Everyone's giggling around.
I can't giggle.
So I try to smile
Smile broader
Yet somehow
I am reminded of the rain
To my own surprise
I am found cherishing
The gloomy sight
Through my dark cubicle window film
Of the rain pelting the pavement
And the gooey filth that promises
To never leave a helpless trotter alone
Of a line of rain soaked umbrellas
Set to dry in the lobby passageway
Yes I miss it all
And for once more
I fail to understand
Why little Johnny was so hard to the rain
How could he ask his rain to go away
When all I can do now
Is simply keep missing my rain.
