I Can Do This!

I can feel the adrenaline pumping in my body and the sweat dripping off my face.

I know that I can do this, I just need a little push and shove.

I think about all the things that can go wrong and I almost faint!

I fall to the ground and get back up because I know I can do this.

I take a step forward and say to myself that,

I can walk the plank and fall into the sea but nothing will happen to me because I can swim with my fins; even if I almost drown I know that my team will jump in after me.

I feel better now with all my reassuring thoughts but this isn’t the same situation and it doesn’t have the same resolutions! I can feel my heart beating loud and fast, as loud as drums and as fast as cheetahs running after their prey.

My name was called and I was nervous but I knew that this time I can do it! I felt the adrenaline pumping, I started sweating, I almost fainted and my heart beats loud and fast; I know that these are all the symptoms for nervousness but I stopped thinking and started walking on the stage and my mind was only focused on my speech, that’s why I think I nailed it!

I get off the stage and sit in the audience, suddenly a shower of compliments come at me. All the compliments stated that I was brave! And I knew that it was true because I may have been a chicken before but on the stage, I was sturdy as a rock but still as beautiful as a peacock!
