Hurricane Baboon

Hurricane Baboon

As I walked passed my sons’ room,

I thought I heard a loud boom!

Oh! My God what happened I thought,

Was it the TV? Or had the boys fought?

I knocked at the door anxiously,

‘Everything is fine Mom’, a voice answered calmly,

Really! The sound I heard was pretty loud,

Through the door I could have ploughed!

‘Please open the door I want to see!!!

I am tensed, worried guys set me free!!!’

‘WOW! Mom how dramatic you are!

It is just our drums and guitar,’

Opening the door my younger one quipped,

The glimpse of the room had me gripped!

In horror! For the room looked ripped!

By a tornado, hurricane still better a typhoon!

I quickly christened it Hurricane Baboon,

As customary I began, “In our times we were so obedient...

‘Not again Mom’, he said, ‘I know you were brilliant!’

The sarcasm was not lost on me,

The comment was familiar I had to agree.

‘Mom it is the generation gap,

You liked classical we dig rap,

If only the planet was nurtured with care,

Your generation had been aware,

Banned plastic, emission, and deforestation,

We wouldn’t be riddled with flood, earthquakes and destruction.’

The hurricane hit room was closed on my face,

Baboons! Alright! but he had a case.

His argument made a lot of sense,

A dirty room had had me so tense?

With a heavy heart I began to ponder,

Can we still save our planet I wonder!
