Home?
Home?
It’s this world we live in
This gruesome place
You talk of things like love and peace
Not one of which I can embrace
Because I know that if I do
I’ll also know it isn’t true
I don’t want to have false bliss
So I won’t engage in all this.
Our world is just black and white
Though some just see grey
Some see the sun as a blinding light
Some just see day
In a world full of different views
People feel their words are of levels high
But they can only see what is good,
If they look through another’s eyes.
You talk of equality
But does it really exist?
In a world of sexism, racism and unnecessary mortality
How can I believe it?
You talk of peace
But all I see is war
In a world full of monsters and beasts
To believe in serendipity is quite hard.
Alas, my poor mother Earth
She’ll be the one to suffer
She’s the one getting hurt
For smoke and dust is in her
You and I will soon go
Up above or down below
But all I hope and wish so deeply for
Is a home.
