If I Were A Boy
If I Were A Boy
I can’t cry
I can’t smile
I can’t feel pain because I’m supposed to be strong
And after that, I’m always wrong.
I have to excel in everything
I have to fake caring
I have to fake being happy
Because I can’t be what I want to be!
I have to wish and pray for joy,
Would I have to do this if I were a boy?
Would I have to sit and cook for a family unwillingly?
Or could I have lived happily?
Could I have had ‘fun’ and not been blamed?
Would things have been the same?
If I were a boy, it could have
But I am not and I am glad.
A woman is who is strong and smart,
A woman is who truly tries hard
A woman is who can handle pain,
A woman is who has fire in her veins.
She has bravery and she has strength,
She has love and hence,
I am glad I am a woman
Because I am someone who CAN DO IT.
