Her

I admire her

from a distance

With hair

that shimmers like stars

and eyes

sharper than knives.

She smiles at me

a warm,

inviting,

bright and genuine smile

accented

by her smooth

red garnet lips.

Her voice

is pleasant

one filled with joy

and light as air

her dress

is black as night

and gently brushes the floor

and trails behind her

as she suddenly moves toward me

slowly

and majestically

her skin

radiant and glowing

youthful and firm

As she reaches for me

I feel my chest tighten with fear

and my heartbeat begins to race

My eyes brim with tears

and my mind goes blank

and all is see is her silhouette

an outline of light

caressing her divine frame

As she gets closer to me the light fades

and the shadows fade with it

and I am once again

left alone

in the void.
