A to-do list
A to-do list

The time of adieu is set
a couple of bags to pack
and some memories to collect
I look at my books on the rack
Pull out the favourite one
Rest lay aside and wait
For what was a choice to shun
To be doomed seemed like a fate
Yearning was not a paradigm
Mind had some role to play
Weigh what was worth a dime
and what, a simple giveaway
Not the only obvious decision
With a choice to leave trailing
A part of myself in remission
Or to pack it along, bewailing
“Take charge!”, it said,
Knowing well it’s the right call
I flipped a coin, instead,
to end the endless brawl
Enough stalled, the moment’s here
Look at the crease-free walls
With the windows closed, and clear
As if no photograph hung at all
Our goodbye remains due
and I promise to move on, unless,
the knock on my door is you
Ah! This is such a mess-
You didn’t show up, all vain,
But the battle I’ve won; don’t bother
‘Cause I know I will see you again
Maybe this side or the other.
