From Sapling to a Tree
From Sapling to a Tree

The moment I was born
Your world came to a standstill
Veils of darkness were torn
Revealing that jukebox of delight
Playing melodies, sober and light
As my supple lips curled in a smile,
Innocent yet divine
Your worries got dusted off of your shoulders:
The mere thought of it
Sends chills down my spine
From my first step to driving a car
You taught me, "nothing in this world is unattainable or bizarre"
And when I got my first cut, now a scar,
"It is part of growing up, my child!"
Oh! How my fears vanquished, turned mild.
Curiosity struck open the doors
To learn things, new and old&n

You never let any obstacle
Weigh down my shoulder
Imbibing every lesson in life,
I turned to be cautious yet bolder.
You never let agony overpower the calm within
I turned oblivious to your anxieties
When adolescence transformed my skin
My petty mistakes and regrets
Cost you your peace and good health
You refused to give up on me
Swore to make me independent and carefree
When I seemed to fumble or fall
You were ready to catch me
I fail to imagine a life
Without you or your wishes
I am blessed to be bestowed
With you as my parents.
