Freedom
Freedom
Freedom is my birthright
Soar like an eagle
be free like a bird
it is your right
for freedom must you fight.
When your country was in chains,
She bore innumerable pains.
On others hand were her reins.
Forget not the martyrs,
neither the brutal whips they endured,
nor their tears,
for their dears
that gave you freedom.
Hunger and poverty as reward was served,
The Golden bird was seared, torn, and jeered.
Then rose the countrymen
Their lives were laid, and the price they paid.
Confined to jails, cells,
or took refuge in well.
Bodies, severed with bullets
fired from gun lets,
a tragic tale.
Then came a Wave,
of Solidarity, Unity, and
stand up for Dignity,
that washed away enmity.
Victory was ours
And Freedom at last
from East to West,
North to South,
Our Tricolor furled
telling the world,
We are free,
We shall soar high
like Eagle in the sky.
