Four Fabulous Women

Four Fabulous Women

Let me tell you a tale of four fabulous women,

Ordinary stories of extraordinary women.

Grandma with silver hair, ready smile and hug,

Don't be misled by her pint size, she's a fireplug.

When going gets tough the tough gets going,

That's the mantra on which she's been living.

A child bride she was, with limited opportunities,

Life governed by others, full of inequalities.

Mother at an young age, she had her hands full,

But this didn't deter her, she was never doubtful.

Hard work she put in, studying in her free time,

Even as the unhelpful family cared a dime.

Got a degree, in that day was an exception,

Learnt many skills to merit and perfection.

She taught her children to be tough as nails,

To not back down and make their own trails.

Under her wing her children flourished,

Using her knowledge they were enriched.

Mom was the eldest with four younger brothers,

Would look over them ignoring their blunders.

A loving sister she was, a guardian angel,

The teacher, the protector, the role model.

Life with four brothers isn't easy as it seems,

It taught her to be alert and watch her limbs.

She realised strengths matter not weakness,

Abilities are to be harnessed with perseverance.

She was married to a man, a believer in equality,

But he left a great void when he died untimely.

Left alone with two young kids she struggled

To balance them and her job but never grumbled.

She never stopped grieving for her gentle giant,

And vowed to forever be self reliant.

She taught me and sister that life is alength,

But nothing is stronger than your own strength.

My sister comes next in line of strong women.

She's a match and more for any of the men.

Sky is the limit and cellings don't matter,

She would break them all, left right and centre.

She spoke her mind not scared of big or small,

Believed in hardwork and was ready for a long haul.

For cellings of glass themselves don't break,

You have to reach up to them and give a good shake.

She was told business isn't a woman's cup of tea,

Automobile and hardware isn't her forte.

She proved them all wrong by pulling it off,

Sending ripples in the pond mighty oft.

She set a new standard and raised the bar high,

She didn't stop at this but did much sell and buy.

She is an inspiration for the new generation,

Who survive and thrive in hardcore competition.

Now my wife, the sweetest of creatures,

She won my heart with her pretty features.

But I wasn't deceived by her beauty alone,

It was her brain that floored me for sure.

The world's an open oyster, I'm a shiny pearl,

This was her motto since she was a little girl.

She's an author, whichever way she would look,

She would absorb ideas and turn them to book.

Weaving words into a comforting quilt,

Numerous worlds of fables she did built.

Showing the readers a different perspective,

Changed those opinions that were selective.

She knows the true potential of the written word,

Understands that pen is mightier than the sword.

To change the society takes a lot of effort,

Actions need constant backup and support.

These are the four women of my family,

Taking forward the tradition most proudly.

I am but an admirer and a follower,

Giving a shout out to all women similar.

One doesn't need to be a woman to be inspired,

By stories of their hard work and bold desires.
