Rutuja Bhogate

Drama Tragedy

First Night

First Night

2 mins
202

Sitting on the bed

Clutching the bedsheets by thread

Every nerve cracking in excitement

And heart beating in anticipation

She was in complete state of elation.

It was her first wedding night

And she would finally see her handsome knight.

Long before she was forced into this marriage

But never did she once let herself be disparaged

Because she had loved him

Even before she had seen him

She always considered her husband to be handsome

But she never knew about her parents giving him ransom

She never knew that she was sold

She believed that it was love

Not knowing that it was mere lust

On the creaking sound of door

She immediately had the milk pour

Taking the glass in hand

She stood with her face high

Only to have it knocked to the side

And her fragile body being thrown aside.

The glass of milk was thrown away

And her jewelries were pulled off

She did try resisting

But was bestowed with a stinging feeling on her cheek

She was slapped on the very first night

And her clothes were ripped off by her so called knight

She laid crying on the bed

As her heart continued to fill with dread

The stench of alcohol

Made her want to puke

But she could do nothing more than to struggle under the strong grip

She was raped that night

By her very own knight

With his monster like lust

That night one got pleasure

While she being a pure soul

Laid on the bed like a lost soul

Hurt because of betrayal

Helpless towards her life.

She looked at him sleeping besides her

And disgust filled every core of her

But another wave of helplessness struck her

As tears of betrayal flowed

Pushing her further into darkness

Because she knew that forever she was trapped into the darkness.
