Fiery Mistletoe
Fiery Mistletoe
I once knew a girl
Tormented by her past
For her mom was beaten up
And she was disgraced
By her family
For she was a girl of colour with birthmarks
She soon ran away in disgust
When her mom went to a better place
Away from all her sorrows
She became a wanderer
Until she got solace at the most unexpected place
She was accepted and loved for who she was
In the place which housed people beyond the binary
She found her real family where everyone had a broken past
But they encouraged each other to move on
That she did.
She worked hard for years
With the help and support of her new and true family
From a confused girl to a confident woman
Now she was as calm as a mistletoe and as fiery as caustic
She got to know what success actually meant
She could now help herself,
Her family and many more like
Her who were still wanderers.
Now I see her in the huge mirror in front of me.
