Few Incomings
Few Incomings
I was silent
As the wall,
And then I heard a chirrup;
A small shrill note
Sudden urge to speak,
Drowned like a hiccup!
But twice I searched
No one was at my side,
And the things I thought were fancy;
But then I saw
Few words and phrases hopping,
Around me and dancing.
"Oh why? Oh why!"
I was surprised
For the words of course were mine;
Then they talked
And had a strong discussion
Till it was my supper time.
Then they came
One by one,
Down through my mouth they went;
Words hollow,
Full of pride
Like golden Griffins and a green serpent.
