Festivals & Festivities

Festivals & Festivities

They are a tool to bring life to a state of exuberance and enthusiasm.

They are formed when gaiety and culture blend.

Some celebrated to jubilate victory and some to commemorate martyrdom and patriotism.

They are our festivals which give us reasons to celebrate our lives to their fullest extent.

Festivals attract positivity and repel negativity,

They evolve a sense of brotherhood, merry and divinity.

They help us to create and maintain a strong bond,

Signifying to approach everything in a celebratory way, you learn to be non-serious about life but absolutely involved.

There was a time when there used to be a festival every day of the year in the culture of Indians,

This brought the whole culture into a state of celebrations.

Our heritage giving us an excuse for each day to rejoice

So that it won’t become dull and monotonous.

Each house is full of vitality,

Th

at joy of variety of foods, rituals and toggery.

In each corner of house, it is full of activity,

And words are not enough to describe those zippy and jolly feelings.

Unfortunately, its joy is not same as it used to be,

Now people have become a busy bee.

With time all those number of festivities fell away drastically,

And now humans celebrate only eight to ten annually.

The meaning of festivals has not remained the same,

It only means holidays,

Waking up late, eat a lot and then go for a movie or watch television at home.

We forgot that these festivals were brought to keep man active and enthusiastic in so many ways.

If we will not make our future-generations cognizant of the idea behind them,

Gradually the significance of the word ‘Festival’ will vanish from their culture.

They will just eat, sleep and grow up,

Without concern for fellow human.
