“What is your favourite show, the one which you like most to watch?”
He stared at me in a strange way as if my question was a botch….
Swatches of deep orange shade have filled the sky,
As the sun was setting and the birds were about to fly
He was hushed and then reciprocated, “What’s your favourite?”
“Well I have plenty on my list, especially the ones with adventurous rides…..”
“But favourite should be one…” he retorted with a brisk smile.
He let me ponder on my choices with his own idiosyncratic style…..
“When I was a kid, I was fascinated by animated characters..
From Mickey Mouse to Dexter’s lab and of course, I loved all the Disney stars
…whether it’s princess Jasmine or uncle scrooge or my dearest Donald duck,
Even I loved “Mater” in Radiator Springs, the rustiest and trustiest tow truck.
As I grew up, I enjoyed watching couples, dancing in the rain….
When I started watching horror shows, there were scary sensations within my veins.
Time passed by and technology gave me some top cool streaming services..
I stopped watching TV with family and serials then have been replaced by ‘Series’!”
“My bookshelves were getting dusty as my bedtime has new priorities now ....”
And he replied: “Yes, more screen time than dusty books…wow!”
His question evoked pleasant memories of my childhood…….
As we were sitting underneath a tree, we suddenly observed the springwood.
Gazing at it, He continued, “It is a beautiful sign of the growing season!
For me, nature is my favourite show and it has its own valid reasons.
I grew up reading Ruskin Bond’s ‘My Favourite Nature Stories’…
After school, I used to spend my time roaming in the amazing valleys.”
He recommenced, “For me, nature is an eye catching spectacle……
The breezy wind can snatch your worries, the flowers can create miracle,
As a kid I passed hours, seeing them in full bloom
Marry gold and daisies always unfastened my knots of gloom
When I was lost one time, I had a funny conversations with an owner of some sheeps
It was my way back home as there were no google maps to keep…
He told me gently, ‘never forget where your roots are…
Be grateful to her, even if, in your long journey of life, you go very far….’”
And he continued, “Whether it’s about watching starry night….
Or an evening walk along the river on a track after a hard fight,
Mother nature always amazed me with these wonderful shows,
She helped me to realise the value of life and how it grows….
She taught me not to being complacent but to be compassionate
Like this big giant tree, like the flowing river and like you, my soulmate!”
As he held my hand, tears started shedding from my eyes,
He whispered in my ears: “this is my favourite thing and this is really nice!”
