Euphoria

A feeling fine seeped her entire being,

She whooped with delight and wanted to scream.

To see her name in the merit list,

Was like the bright rainbow peeping through the cloudy mist.

She had studied hard to pass this test,

And had given the exam her very best.

It was something which she had long since planned,

When she had seen her grandfather slowly fade into la-la land.

He had played with her and done all her bidding,

Even gone down all his fours playfully cribbing.

Like a regal Queen she had ridden on his back,

And till today to her chagrin she remembered, the toy leash whack!

An indulgent grandpa he had been to the core,

Good humouredly he had transformed into a menacing dinosaur.

She had vowed to herself when she had seen him fade,

That she would against dementia crusade.

Twenty years it took her to realise her dream,

The euphoria of making it to the school made her smile and beam.

This was her way of keeping his memory alive,

And to find a cure, she had pledged to strive.
