Distant Star
Distant Star
A twinkling dot in the dark night,
A speck to some, to others, a source of light.
Forever present in day and night,
Only those who love you feel your presence in broad daylight.
Am I to you a speck you chance upon during life's long journey,
Or am I the light that warms you on days cold and snowy?
I look upon you every day,
Hoping to be yours someday.
Do you think of me the same way?
If you do, then why did you go astray?
I asked you not for gems or riches,
But loyalty I asked and love sans glitches.
All I ask is for you to come back,
As I wait, eyes filled with sorrow and heart filled with ache.
Is my wait futile and vain,
Even if you return, you may never love me again.
As I burn like the star above,
Shining brightly calling for my love,
I hope it is you that sees my light,
If not, I will eternally hold you in my heart and will fade away in the dark night.
