Distant Love's Discontent

Distant Love's Discontent

In love's sweet embrace, they once did dwell,

A tale of two souls, a love they did tell.

But time's cruel hand, with its ceaseless sway,

Unveiled a chapter of dismay.

Once inseparable, hearts intertwined,

They reveled in affection, love enshrined.

But the winds of change swept the tides of fate,

And their love, once vibrant, started to abate.

The girlfriend, once present, now lost in her days,

Engulfed by commitments in a chaotic haze.

Her schedule filled with endless tasks and stress,

Leaving her lover longing, feeling less and less.

Days turned to weeks, and weeks turned to years,

The hurt grew in silence, hidden by tears.

The girlfriend, consumed by her bustling life,

Failed to see her lover's struggle and strife.

Unspoken words hung heavy in the air,

As distance grew between them, a love affair

Fading like an echo, once vibrant and clear,

Now a mere whisper, lost in the atmosphere.

The lover, blind to the pain she'd sown,

Carried on, unaware, love's absence unknown.

But her lover, wounded, became a ghost,

Withdrawing slowly, their heartache engrossed.

Alas, the chasm widened, their connection frayed,

As the lover's indifference led love astray.

She never noticed the void that had grown,

Until her lover's heart, once warm, turned to stone.

Oh, the tragedy of a love misplaced,

A heart left wounded, abandoned and disgraced.

Time's relentless march can't heal the hurt,

When love's neglected and left to inert.

So, take heed, dear friends, in matters of the heart,

Nurture the love that's at the very start.

For in the busyness of life's chaotic whirl,

Love requires attention, not to unfurl.

For once the damage is done, it's hard to mend,

And a broken heart may never truly ascend.

May this poem serve as a gentle plea,

To cherish the love you hold, tenderly.
