Childhood

Childhood is the best gift,

As we grow older it drifts;

When we go down memory lane,

We see ourselves so insane.

When we were kids,

We did a lot of weird deeds;

Never had to worry about the future,

Parents were always there to nurture.

Our every mistake was forgiven,

No emotion we kept hidden;

When we were born, looking in our eyes,

Our parents happily cried.

Getting toys and chocolates was the only wish,

Even little things seemed so lavish;

Mind was at the height of imagination,

We did everything with full determination.

Simplicity was everything that defined us,

Unknowingly we made a fuss;

Still, we were happy,

Because my mind was full of fantasy.

Eavesdropping on our surprises,

Getting gifts gave us a lot of happiness;

Just a hug from mother,

Made every injury and hurt lesser.

Then came the teenage,

Which heightened love and rage;

We fell in love, we fell apart,

But we always listened to the heart.

Adolescence was never easy,

Falling for someone, worrying about things kept us busy;

Worrying about the career,

Sometimes gave chills and fever.

Adulthood came with responsibilities,

That made us realize our capabilities;

Marriage, children and work became reality,

Still had to hold on to our morality.

Old age gave a flashback of memories,

We realized life is full of possibilities;

The fear of disease and death came over,

Our bodies got confined to one chamber.

Remembering childhood we thought,

If we had one more life we would do a lot;

Indeed childhood is never forgotten,

That phase of life was golden.
