Candlelight

Candlelight

2 mins
201

He woke up when it was early dawn,

The sun had come, the night was gone.

That was the day, when he would fight,

The rays of sun and it's bright light,

He always wished that he could shine,

Brighter than the sun divine.

He wished he was noticed right away,

Like the sun was seen during the day.

So finally it was the time to glow,

Brighter than the sun above.

Others had gathered around that place,

They knew he would lose, as always.

He was lit and wax began to fall,

He was a candle afterall.

At first he was bright ,

He thought he would win,

But the sun too caught up,

And he seemed too dim!

The viewers saw the sun so bright,

But No one noticed the candle's light.

Finally after minutes of pain,

He knew he had lost, once again.

Putting out his flame, he walked away,

Others laughed at him throughout the day.

The sun had cruised through the sky,

It was finally gone, as time passed by.

His place was taken by the tubelight,

To illuminate the long dark night .

At dinner time all others were happy,

But the candle thought, how bad was he

Neither could he beat the sun in a fight,

Nor could he win, during the night.

He felt like a bird, who cannot fly,

He was like a lonely cloud in the sky!

He felt like the shore, without the sea,

He felt he was as bad as he could be!

That was when a sound was heard,

It was the tube which sparked to explode,

Because of a wire, not fit tight,

How dark and scary seemed the night!

Everyone thought what could be done,

Nobody could help, not even the sun!

Then came hope and a light was seen,

How stunned, how shocked, had everyone been!

The dark cold night seemed blessed with the light.

It was the brightest thing which came in sight.

It was none other than the candle himself,

Shining brightly on the top of a shelf!

Others realised, the mistake they made,

As fear of darkness, began to fade.

They said that the candle was a hero indeed,

Who helped them all when they were in need!

The candle now knew that who was he,

And that he did not need to be,

Brighter than the sun, during the day,

Winner in the fight right away.

All he had to do was to shine at night,

When not even the sun would give any light.

And In the end he found himself,

Every night on the dining shelf.

That was when "off" was the tubelight,

With supper enjoyed under candlelight!
