Call For Celebration

Call For Celebration

This calls for a celebration

I’ve made it to a whole year without talking about you

It feels good to no longer be crippled by your memories

This calls for a celebration

I’ve been through six months without dreaming of you

It feels good to no longer see your with my closed eyes.

This calls for a celebration

I’ve been through a month without listening to your favorite song

As I celebrate me without you

Have even you left me as myself?

I don’t remember who I was before your meeting your eyes

I guess I’ll celebrate still but not myself

But to being lucky enough to have heard your voice

Celebrating my good fortune to have been able to hear you say my name

I will celebrate my ability to love

As if it had been through a war and I can only hope for its return.

This does call for a celebration

As I drink to my tears over your name.
