Beyond The Hustle
Beyond The Hustle
The light of the sun seems dimmer
The ebb of life down to a trickle
A 60's Vauxhall crawling on a six-lane
The hourglass is bottom full with no flip
Just yesterday, everything was a rush
Like racing the rain, chasing the sunset
Life was a motorbike on the scenic highway
A comet shining bright against the dark sky
Morrow is a deluded festive Tomorrowland
The hedonist inside raises a toast to today
As the slow train huffs and puffs towards
The end of the line of this abandoned railroad
The fame, the glory and the promise of Neverland
A lifetime lived chasing dreams
Going one step up and two steps down
The hopeless optimist has reached this far
A bundle of memories lightens the load
Of the drag of living one day at a time
To whooshing and vrooming lifetimes in the day
To realise now, it could only get you this far
I remain still and towards me the ineludible in a rush.
